Well ,hello there....I've been anxiously awaiting your arrival ( a repost)

Autumn is my favorite season; my hands-down favorite.

I love everything about Autumn. The look, the smell, the sounds, the food, the clothes...for those of you that are summer-lovers and just can't let go, let me provide some visual stimulation and plead my case for voting Autumn the number one season.

Gorgeous, colorful changing leaves in hues so calming -contrasting nicely against the blue sky.

The Feel

Stiflng humidity has gone, leaving a breathable, comfortable temperature suitable for outdoor rest and recreation that does not leave one dripping with sweat while trying to catch your breath . Evenings requiring a jacket that keeps the cooler air at a comfortable distance from my skin.

The smell

I so enjoy the smell of burning leaves (in moderation) they scream FALL IS HERE!

Simmering pots of soup on the stove,

Apple pies baking in the oven....

ahhhh, Autumn, you are too good to me.

Scented candles burning filling my home with scents of the season.

The Decor

Pumpkins and wreaths and leaves and warm colors scattered throughout porches in my neighborhood. Scarecrows, corn stalks and hay bales add to the comforting homey Autumn scenes.

The Clothes

Jackets and sweaters

and more material to cover up my ever changing body! Finally time to wear those boots I purchased!

The activiites

Football games to attend-

hikes in the woods-
sipping cider on the front porch while enjoying a good book .

Visiting Local Pumpkin Patches with small children

Attending craft fairs,

Raking leaves and watching children jump in them.

The food

Hearty Soups and stews.

Homemade breads.
Crisp apples and fun fall foods

Warm casseroles to feed a brood of Irishmen.

The benefits

Saving money on the electric bill by turning off the AC!
Hair that is actually manageable now that the humidity is gone.
Snuggling on the sofa while watching a a good tearjerker.

I realize that Spring is quite spectackular, and winter holds the best holidays, and summer is full of vacation time and lazy days, but honestly, I think they're all jealous of Autumn.

Autumn in her quiet glory- reminding us all the endings can be a marvelous thing- if we take the time to notice the beauty and enjoy the moment.

Oh NOW I love Autumn!

I'm with you all the way on this one, Sherri. Well... except for that pie thing. I love the pies, but I can't bake one to save my soul.

However, I am perfectly willing to let you bake one for me. In fact, I'm thinking you should have a whole pie-baking kind of day thing, and just send one to everybody. That'll work for me! :)

Mom on Spin- See how powerful this Autumn season is?

Blognut- Nice try. You know I would if I could, but I can't so I won't. Just purchase the ready-made type that you have to bake (in your grocer's freezer section), sprinkle the top with a little cinnamon and sugar- throw some flour around he kitchen and a bit on your face, and suddenly, it will look and smell and taste like Autumn in the Blognut kitchen!

I love that song...I have an owl figurine that plays that tune. It was my first musical gift. Funny the things we remember.
I have allergies. I love the look of autumn, the gathering of leaves to press, but by October, I will have a chronic cough. Hace es la vida. That's Spanish for Se la vie.
I love the smell of a crockpot filled with hot apple cider.

I love autumn, too, even though we didn't have much of a summer here. Because it has been so dry, the trees are exceptionally beautiful (or so the tree lovers tell me). Your pics are awesome.

And so are you. I honestly keep you and Big Al in my prayers every day. Seize the day, Sherri!

Helen- I also suffer from allergies- but I mainly have watery eyes till the first frost. So. Illinois is known for its high pollen count. Bad news for allergy sufferers. I still enjoy it though. I wear waterproof makeup!

Candy- thank you. I always appreciate prayers on our behalf.

Oh, I love that crisp cool feeling in the air. It's not cold, but it's cool enough to love those long sleeves.

I also love the smell: kind of like a historic smoke house. Oh, lovely fall...

Holly- exactly!

I love Autumn! Always have, always will. Of course I love winter, spring and summer too!

You absolutely covered it all! I love autumn and all the good things it brings. Around here, however, it also brings deer haphazardly playing "chicken" with you as you drive down the road, coyotes howling at 3 a.m. and gophers and moles searching for that last grub before the ground freezes. Oh well, such is nature! Now I'm off to make some soup!

Deanna- I love them all too, that's why I'm thrilled to live in a place where all 4 seasons get to show off their very best- but Autumn is number 1!

Lindy-We have the deer problem too! And I left out hayrides and campfires. How did I leave those out?

I love autumn. It's my fave too! Football, crockpot recipes and beautiful leaves...ahh bliss!

I love these pictures you posted. Makes me even more anxious for the cooler weather to finally make it here.

This a beautiful collection of pictures!

This blog entry, printed out would be a lovely little book to place on the coffee table or leave in the guest powder room.

Marni- the temps here this week are still in high 70s/low 80s, but next week the cooler weather is scheduled to arrive!

Iggy- a coffee table book of fall would be perfect! I have all my fall magazines out for inspiration- may as well print some of these photos too!

I love autumn, too! Bummer that we're having a heat wave today, the first day of autumn. Looks like it will be a salad night instead of my homemade baked potato soup. I wish someone would tell the weather that it's time to change around here!

Wendy- I'll send him a memo.

Oh, I love fall! It's absolutely my favorite time of year. Thank you for featuring those gorgeous pics...it's soul-soothing. :)

One of my personal favorites for fall is lighting the woodstove. That wonderful smell fills the house...and the days aren't too much longer before we'll be doing just that! :)

This was wonderful!! Fall is the very best time of year! My favorite, too! I don't care about football or apple pies, tho. With me it is the aromas of soups and homemade bread. The crisp clean air--ahh!! Love the pictures of the leaves. Never heard the singer--was beautiful. :)

Beautiful, Gorgeous post! Love the song! It was perfect. the pictures, again spot-on. I too was brought up in the midwest, (Ohio), and I only saw ONE thing not listed that to me, also means Autumn: HAYRIDES. Complete with after-hayride campfire, and hot cider, and good friends. :) Love it, Love it. Love it.
